New for the 2010 year. Big thanks to Thierry and Luc from Stadium suspension for making my bike even more adapted to my needs. They adjusted it to fit my weight and height and what a big diffenrence it makes. Can't wait for this year to get going. On this
rally we were loaned a couple of brand new BMW 450X by BMW Canada . These
bikes are the newest and greatest in BMW Enduro technology.
The motor is a 449.5 cm³ , single cylinder ,4 stroke, electric start, water cooled and only 230 lbs. There is a lot of new inovation involve in the making of this motorcycle , and don`t forget these bikes are street legal. For more info on these bike check this out
After
the race after taughts....
The
bikes were great.... The got us to the end of the rallye without a hesitation.
We rode 4 solid days . The first day was the easiest only 8 hrs. The sand dunes
and lots lots lots of cake mud. The bike looked like they were dipped ina caste.
The
second we named them the salmons. 14hrs... 6 of wich were in sometime hip height
water, lots of strong current and lots of water crossing. I was amazed the the
bikes never stalled. But after that famous day we did an air filter change
and understoud why the bikes never stalled. The outside air intake of this bike
is quite hight to start with but then it dips down with some drain holes and the
actual intake for the engine is still higher than the one on the ouside. So with
that we were able to make it trough this incredable day. Then day 3 we left for
the 2 day solo at 7:00 am and finished our day at 19:30 ridding trough the atlas
in the dark.....It was a day full of rough terrain again lots of wash out due to
the incredible amount of rain that we kept getting. Next morning we were out by
5:30 and finish at 21:45. Again so much rocks and 17km of sand dunes. The bikes
were super light and it deffinitly help us getting trough the long days and
rough terrain.The tires Metzeler Six Days were amazing lots of time if figured
no way we gets trough this without a flat, there it is they were fantastic. the
only failure was the bolt that holds the kick stand.
They deffinitly get a two tumbs up they were fantastic and reliable, with little maintance done other than the air filter ,oil and filter change .
